A Smashing Success

Valentine's Day was a smashing success this year, especially considering I was not singing in a band for a pre-teen abstinence party, employed as a florist, standing in as a waitress, and/or working as a B&B handy-woman extraordinaire (all things I have done).

If you want my honest take on V-Day, you can read about it here.  I should forewarn you, though, you really don't want my take on it.

This year, I might as well just go ahead and measure the day by the things accomplished:

I began writing that series of short stories I've been talking about, oh, for forever.

I started some watercolor art I'll be using in my living room wall collage, if I ever buy a bulletin board.

I got my first candy-gram.  Tim, with chocolates.  I wonder what a Danish candy-gram would sound like?  Probably funny.

I ran ten miles.  This is the farthest I've ever run, and it took me an hour and 40 minutes.  I am determined to run a marathon while living in Europe (might as well admit this has eclipsed my yearly resolution to learn how to play tennis; Denmark has pay-per-use clay courts which I don't find appealing).  Embarrassingly enough, I ran the entire ten miles without noticing that I had a piece of glass in my sock and it cut up my foot and bloodied my tennis shoe.  This is disturbing to me on several levels, not the least of which is a) HOW COULD I POSSIBLY NOT NOTICE? and b) how did glass get in my sock in the first place?  Must make a note to investigate suspect Sock Drawer.

Then, once I was all cleaned up and barely walking, we celebrated V-Day in a perfectly hygge way (definition here): candles, asparagus soup, red wine, so on so forth.  As you can see, it was by far the best Valentine's I've had in quite some time.

We may have embarrassed Isaac somewhat.

Today the kiddo and I are going to Riso (the o should be the special Danish character with the line crossing through it, but I have no idea how to make that symbol on my American keyboard) to have lunch with Tim.  I was supposed to meet with my new Danish language instructor this afternoon, but the meeting got bumped up to Friday.  And tonight we are finally editing that series of post cards I told you about earlier.  As soon as I find a printer, I will officially be one step closer to opening an Etsy shop!  (Correction: Tim will be editing the post cards as he is the photoshop-savvy one; I will be reading aloud from the new novel we just began - Patrick Rothfuss' The Name of the Wind.  One chapter in and I am already kicking myself for choosing this particular book to read aloud to Tim.  It's a page turner and now I can only read it in the evening.  Shoot.)

... So, how's your week coming along?
