Reading: Hillenbrand's Seabiscuit.  It's taking me awhile to get through this because it has to be read out loud.  I don't know why; it just does.  I like to read it just before I sit down to write.  It gets me in the mood.

Listening to: Elton John's Tiny Dancer (are you?)

Stalking: WanderLost, A Well Traveled Woman.  I think I'm in love with this woman.

Watching: Almost Famous.  I'm not going to admit how many times I've watched this movie.

Working on: Three new illustrations & a custom order.

Hosting: An illustration giveaway - go enter now!

Wishing for: Kingsolver's Poisonwood Bible; patterned socks; art supplies (running low), especially watercolor cakes; soft gray towels (after a year of air-drying, our current towels feel like stucco walls); another pair of The Perfect Jeans (since my last pair are now disintegrating shorts, getting shorter by the minute); Almost Famous soundtrack; this Angie Maxie Dress (I love it; it's so me); boxes of tea; a cat.

Laughing over: My most expensive vacations have been to my home-town for holiday, since I'm coming all the way from Europe.

And, because it seems to be a Sunday morning tradition
(all of a sudden)
a few inspiring things:

Going back to a simpler life based on living by sufficiency rather than excess is not a step backward. Rather, returning to a simpler way allows us to regain our dignity, puts us in touch with the land, and makes us value human contact again.  - Yvon Chouinard

Someday, when we're millionaires
(Tim likes to say this as if it will actually happen):
I'm going to have this rooftop garden.

I've wasted far too much time on here this morning;
time to paint.

  1. Love this! Thank you for the Sunday morning inspiration.

Tiny Dancer brings back wonderful memories. We've been listening to Elton John's Tumbleweed Connection a lot. I've always loved Sir Elton, thanks to my parents. I just finished reading The Poisonwood Bible for the millionth time. It never gets old.

Happy painting and Happy Sunday! We're off to the mountains - in the rain. :)

  6. I know, right? Imagine if you owned that entire building complex and had ALL those gardens. I could open my coffeehouse in one building, rent out a couple more, live in one ... it'd be magical.

  7. I love reading your posts, even if I don't always post a comment. My son is an artist, so I understand the wish list you have. I find it interesting that reading your book out loud inspires you to write. I may have to try that some day soon. I loved the photos too. Very inspiring.

  8. I always think I would be great at a rooftop garden. A lovely little spot hidden from the rest of the world to go and hide would be lovely.

  10. Caitlin: HAHA. Exactly.
Ginanorma: Thank you ;) I haven't heard about that book actually ... Seabiscuit is about gambling and horse racing. It sounds boring but it's not, I promise.
