Denmark, Ho! Pt. 2

We are leaving today.
Today.

Today we are moving to another country.

. : LASTS : .

During the past week I’ve found myself counting up lasts.

You know.  This is the last time we will do such-and-so.

Sometimes they are really happy:

  • This is the last time I will stare at the wobbly ceiling fan, and wonder if it will ricochet off and slice my neck.  (It could happen.)
  • This is the last time I will have to drive thirty minutes to get a decent cup of coffee.  Scratch that.  I may be buying my coffee from Sweden next. (That should put some things into perspective for me, huh?  A quick jaunt to the next country over is a far cry from the next county over.)
  • This is the last time I will re-arrange my closet in a desperate attempt to create space out of no space.

But some of the lasts are sad:

  • This is the last family dinner for which everyone will be present.  (Until Christmas.)
  • This is the last time my siblings and I will quote entire film scripts rather than have a regular conversation.  (Until Christmas.)
  • This is the last time we’ll all just sit around and do nothing … just because we can.  (Until Christmas.)

I’ve begun to tack “until Christmas” onto the end of these last few,
because we are coming back for the holidays.

... I'd rather just take my family with me.

. : FYI : .

Since I’m not sure when I’ll be able to post again
(hopefully tomorrow, we’ll see), let me just say:

If you fail to hear from us and have reason to be concerned, here is the number for the Embassy of the United States in Copenhagen:

(+45) 33 41 71 00

Here’s how to say “Have you seen these missing people?” in Danish:

Har du set disse mangler mennesker?

Or, depending on how accurate Google translator is,
this may be asking something entirely different.

A recent picture of what we look like:

Heh, heh, heh.

And a mock-up of what we will look like in two years:

Notice we have changed nationalities.  Also Tim got really old.  Also Isaac became a girl.  No idea.  Just go with it.

... Wish us luck!

  9. And the adventure begins! I pray you get settled quickly and fall in love with the country even faster. And I'm fully expecting to live vicariously through you, so you better post about all the quirks Denmark has to offer, and all the quirks you have to offer it. :)
