Male Bravado

Christmas came with eight inches of snow.  It finally melted.  Yesterday we got another five or six inches.  I’m sad.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the concept of a white holiday season as much as the next person.  I would infinitely prefer the “white” to be referring to sand, but if you live in Georgia then snow is as close as you’re going to get.

That being said, my dislike of the snow far outweighs my appreciation of white scenery.  To name a few: I hate the cold and accompanying sicknesses.  I also hate socks.  I dislike being pinned in one spot because my car doesn’t do snow.  I’m none too fond of the mud left behind once the snow has melted.  And I absolutely hate having my schedule rearranged for weather-related reasons.

Tim, who's been home due to the weather, decided he must go conquer the elements.  This is apparently accomplished by attaching a log to the back of his jeep and dragging it down the driveway in an attempt to make it remotely passable.

Naturally I worried.

“Please be careful.”

“Honey, don’t worry.  I have far more experience driving in the snow than most.”

“But your jeep is crappy.”

“My jeep is not crappy.”

“THE STEERING WHEEL IS ATTACHED WITH DUCT TAPE!”  (It is, in fact.)

“It is not duct-taped on; the duct tape is merely holding it in place.”

(WHAT?)

Might as well add Male Bravado to my list of Reasons to Dislike Snow.

  1. I completely agree with you on the snow thing. I hate it. Wish we could have about two weeks of cold(ish) weather a year. Summer all year long--I could deal with that.

  2. Exactly. In my perfect world it would be Summer from March through August, Fall from September through January.

  5. Hello. I love the snow, but I live in a place where it REALLY snows a lot, so it would be kinda weird to live here if I didn't. Hugs Karen

  6. I am so sick of the snow! We were hit with a winter storm today. I, too, do NOT drive in snow. So I stayed home from work today. I'm ready for spring!!! :)

P.S. My boyfriend went outside today and did donuts in the middle of the road to "play".

  7. I dislike ice. I dislike slipping mainly I dislike those few perilous seconds into the slip where you are not sure if you will die, break or you will be able to celebrate your recovery.

  8. Duct tape is one of the greatest inventions ever, think i would be a little nervous with my steering wheel being held in place though with it. Made me laugh. Send the snow here, ill take it.
