Hello Yummy

bru·schet·ta (noun) : thick slices of bread grilled, rubbed with garlic, drizzled with olive oil, often topped with tomatoes and herbs, and usually served as an appetizer (Merriam Webster).

Borrowed from Thousandth Dish

Did you know there is an entire page-worth of bruschetta photographs on Pinterest?

I’m generally the kind of person who forgets about food.  Which basically means that I eat a lot of fresh produce.  I make a point to keep it on hand and it takes little to no preparation time.  That being said, I would love to take a cooking class someday.

In particular, there is a certain vegetarian cookbook that makes me think I could love cooking.  The pictures alone. . .   A photograph is all it takes to make up mind - THAT is what I want to eat.

This drives Tim nuts.

“What do you mean you don’t know what you want to eat until you see someone else eating it?!”

What can I say.  I need visual aids.  I hate it when I go to a restaurant and there are no pictures on the menu.

All that to say. . . I watched Julie and Julia again so now I am craving bruschetta.  You know the bit where Julie is talking about writing a blog about cooking?  In that scene, they are eating the most incredible-looking bruschetta I have ever seen.  And it makes me hungry, every time.

. . . What are you craving?

  2. Well, thanks to you, NOW I'm craving bruschetta! ;P I really love to see pictures of crazy food too. I have joked that I'll eat most things as long as I don't know what's in them, which is probably why I'd make a terrible cook. ;) But currently I'd love a curry sandwhich. Sounds disgusting, absolutely isn't. :D

  4. Beautiful picture! One of my faves - You may also enjoy the book - Kitchen Alchemy as it is a unique look at food, kind of the "zen" behind it, it has some great photography and insight. An interesting read even if you never prepare one of the dishes.

  5. Wow that is beautiful. I love the combinations of the crunch of the toast, the silky smooth cheese, the crisp basil and the fresh tomatoes. It is truly the taste of spring.

    Sigh.

  7. p.s. And I'm really not craving anything right now, except for maybe a hot drink like tea...and a phone conversation with my best friend, because ughhh....today is not a good day to be me. Or be a woman. Or be both. :P Where's the painkillers?!?! Haha.

  8. I love brushetta, and Julie & Julia!! :) I am SO with you on the pictures thing - I can't pick off a words-only menu, and it drives me nuts! Nick used to be bugged by it, but after four years he now thinks it's funny (jerk, lol). I'm slowly compiling a cookbook of my own recipes, including pictures, and in the narrative style used by Julia :D

  10. I looooove brushette!! My Grandpa Al figured out how to make it while we were in IL last August. *melt* It's just too bad that he usually got bored after making about eight or so...but lemme tell you I've never been so grateful that my cousins are all picky eaters. :P More for me. *nomnomnom*

  12. I love Julie and Julia! I learned to make beef bourguignon after watching that movie. That's the only meal that makes me feel like a sophisticated cook! Apart from that, I'm more of a Campbell's soup recipe kind of cook. :)

  13. I'm almost never craving a BLT - but after a friend told he made one w/fresh avocado on it, that's had me wanting one and now I'm minutes away from having it. One of my favorite dishes is a tomato/basil pasta recipe that is only good in the warmer months - it'll be on my blog soon!
