Don't Worry, Be Happy


I have some wonderful news.

This afternoon we are closing on the South Carolina house.
Let me rephrase: As of today, WE HAVE SOLD THE THING!


So happy.

If you read my blog, chances are you've noticed that I have a thing for definitions.  Sometimes a definition will offer fresh perspective on an otherwise simple word, so this morning I looked up happiness in Merriam Webster Online.   And in case you were wondering: I do know what happiness means . . . I think.

This is what I found: 

happiness:  
the word you've entered isn't in the dictionary. 

How can this be?  Oh Merriam, I didn't know you suffered so.

Aha! Tried again and this time it actually appeared! I suppose Merriam wasn't quite so melancholy.

happiness: noun
a : a state of well-being and contentment
b : a pleasurable or satisfying experience
