The Head and the Heart

So apparently Danes take several Spring holidays that are unfamiliar to us Americans, as well as an especially long Easter break.  Case in point, Tim was technically not allowed to go to work Thursday-Monday this week (unless he requested permission), and I'm told some Danes actually get the entire week free.  Whereas the idea of celebrating Easter for such a lengthy period of time sounds ... extravagant? delightful? ... well, why not.

Thursday - An especially sunny day so we went on a long walk near the fjord and may I just say: HOW I HAVE MISSED THE SUN.

Friday - My 26th birthday (hoorah).  Naturally it was cold and windy.  We had a pot-luck lunch with my English-speaking network group and they unexpectedly sang me happy birthday, which was quite the cheer-up since I was really missing my family that day.

Special thanks to everybody back home for the happy happy gifts (new running shoes, music, cards and paper flotsam, a succulent garden, and a little black summer dress that is far shorter than I expected).  My sister gave me The Head and the Heart cd which I desperately needed because the music I brought from home was destroyed (along with my hard-drive) and Pandora "hasn't come to this part of the world yet."  Also thanks to everyone for the cheery FB birthday wishes!

Stayed up all night watching Season 2 of Downton Abbey.  Didn't go to sleep until 5 a.m.

Saturday - A flop day, due to the 5 a.m. bedtime thing. Can't say I didn't know this would happen.

Sunday - Happy Easter everyone!  Took a morning run in the sunshine, spent some time at my favorite coffee spot in Roskilde, and then went to the mid-afternoon service at the Copenhagen Vineyard.  I love my church.

Monday - Will be celebrating my pastor's 40th birthday with the church.  (To all fellow Americans: you would never in your life believe anyone you meet here is the age they claim - they all look a decade younger or more.  Possibly due to the fact that they have very active lifestyles, do not spend excessive amounts of time in the sun, take many spring holidays so as to keep life stress-free, and eat ice-cream regardless of how cold it is.  I think we could take a tip or two from them.  Eat more ice cream, people.)

And, last but not least, a short little Monday Amenities
(A Link-List - Post 20):

The Color Run - A 5k where the runners get blizted with magical color dust.  Proceeds go to different charities depending on the city/state.  Sounds like so much fun!

Today's Letters: 10 Things That Have Made All the Difference In Our Marriage - a couple shares their creative approach to keeping their marriage honest and fun.

Avocado Dip Recipe - mmmmmmmm.

Cork Key-Chains - Might as well; I've got the corks.

David Thorne: Missing Missy - A hilarious email exchange about a missing cat.  There are also several other humorous articles on this site (as well as a few that are somewhat crass so proceed with caution).

... Have a lovely week, loves!
