Legal Addictive Stimulants

I have recently doubled my intake of coffee, which I hear is going to kill me but what can I say? It's a legal addictive stimulant and I have been seduced. (To paraphrase from You've Got Mail). Alright, I can't just say that without quoting the original:

Joe Fox: Hey, you know what? We should announce ourselves to the neighborhood. Just let them know, here we come.
Kevin: Oh, no, this is the Upper West Side, man. We might as well tell 'em we're opening up a crack house. They're gonna hate us. Soon as they hear, they're gonna be lining up---
Joe Fox
and Kevin: - to picket the big bad chain store...
Kevin: - that's out to destroy...
Joe Fox: - everything they hold dear.
Kevin: Yeah.
Joe Fox: Do you know what, we are gonna seduce them. We're gonna seduce them with our square footage, and our discounts, and ourdeep armchairs, and...
Joe Fox, Kevin: Our cappuccino.
Joe Fox: That's right. They're gonna hate us at the beginning, but...
Joe Fox, Kevin: - but we'll get 'em in the end.
Joe Fox: Do you know why?
Kevin: Why?
Joe Fox: Because we're going to sell them cheap books and legal addictive stimulants. In the meantime, we'll just put up a big sign: "Coming soon, a FoxBooks superstore and the end of civilization as you know it."

It's arguably the best part in the movie.

Yesterday, after Tim came home from work, he said, "You know what's sad? I saw this girl on campus today and all I could think of was how that looks like a girl Lauren would hook up with."

I don't understand how guys can make a comment like that, which begs the question,
"Well, what did she look like?" and respond with "I don't know." Geez.

Since I have officially started getting online again through instant messenger (which makes me feel about twelve), I've been talking to Courtney twice as much as we used to. Which is why, I might add, I've started saying things like "retarded," and "geez louiz." If I start making unintelligible noises that look, when typed, something like this: blehgah, it's her fault too. Otherwise, it's been pleasant. (Minus the influx of exploding emoticons. Whose dumb idea was it to have smiley faces throw up smiley faces all over the computer screen?)

  1. I prefer Ayla's comment about me on her blog over yours. You somehow make me sound like a moron (another word you forgot to add to the list).
