Laura Mazurek of Violet Bella

The Creative Process ...  This can be anything for me, from creating a piece of jewelry or clothing, to decorating my home, to learning new ways to live my life with love and acceptance.  Often, we can create an original work and consider it perfection upon completion ... But many other times, we have to come back to it over and over again until it is just right.

I am inspired most when I am relaxed and comfortable, listening to good music, and if at all possible, outside.  Although my job requires me being inside most of the day, sometimes just stepping outside for a moment to rejuvenate is a part of my own process.  My best work is done when I follow that urgent feeling of 'I must create now'... You know, that feeling that comes out of nowhere and it all just flows.  I love those days.

Then some days are harder ones, and you find yourself pacing back and forth, and getting frustrated because the project is not turning out the way you had envisioned.  This is the time to walk away and re-gather.

Sometimes the absence of creating is just as important as the 'creating' in the creative process.

This photo is an example of one I came back and re-edited about four times before it was just right in my eyes.  Its transformation over time allowed it to become something it never would have been if I hadn't allowed myself to come back to it.
